I got my cousin pregnant and now we’re in a secret relationship – it’s mucked up but I love her & we’re keeping the baby
A MAN has revealed that after a boozy night out with his cousin, he ended up getting her pregnant.
He admitted that he knows it is a messed up situation, but he has now developed very deep feelings for his family member.
Keen to open up on the situation, the man took to social media to reveal all, leaving many open-mouthed.
Posting on Reddit, on the r/Advice thread, the anonymous man wrote under the username @throwaway776912 and titled his post ‘I got my cousin pregnant and we haven’t told our parents.’
The 21-year-old man, who is from California, USA, then begged: “Please don’t judge. I know it’s a f****d up situation and I just want honest advice on where to go from here.”

Upon moving back home, he saw his 22-year-old cousin for the first time in nearly five years.
He confessed: “It’s fair to say she had changed significantly. She was always ‘cute’ but puberty turned her into a drop dead gorgeous woman.
“I was instantly attracted to her, but I figured it was just my hormones getting the best of me.
“Fast forward a few months later, I went to a party with her and my other cousin.
“As you would expect from a party full of young twenties and alcohol, things got out of hand quickly.”
That’s when things went to the next level with him and his female cousin, as he added: “I won’t go into all the super long details, but I had sex with my cousin that night.
“Honest to God, it was the most amazing experience of my life, even though she was completely wasted and I was slightly under the influence.
“The next morning, I came to my senses and realised what I had actually done.
“I felt terrible for sleeping with her when she was not in the right state of mind and I was.

“However, she vividly remembered all the details and made it obvious that she was into me.
“We did it again that day, this time with sober minds and proper protection.”
The 21-year-old revealed that after sleeping with each other twice, they made the decision to keep their relationship “super secretive from everyone”, especially their family.
The Law on Incest in the UK
INCEST refers to sexual activity between close family members, such as siblings, parents and children, or grandparents and grandchildren.
- Criminal Offence: Engaging in sexual activity with a close family member is illegal.
- Close Family Members: Includes siblings (full or half), parents, children, grandparents, and grandchildren.
- Penalties: Those found guilty of incest can face significant legal consequences, including imprisonment.
- Protection and Welfare: The law aims to protect individuals and maintain the integrity of family relationships.
- Consent Irrelevant: Even if both parties consent, it is still considered a criminal offence.
Despite this, he acknowledged: “I think a few of her close friends may have figured it out, but we trust them to keep their lips zipped.
“Her sister, whom she is way too close to ever hide this from, also knows. She tried to convince us to stop it at first, but after seeing how happy and intimate we were together behind closed doors, she admitted she just wants us to both be happy.
“She’s always been a super open to anything type person, so her support didn’t shock us.
Our biggest concern is our parents finding out, not only that she’s pregnant, but that I’m the father

“She’s vowed to never bring it up around family, but she has definitely voiced her concerns over how long this can go on without anyone knowing.”
But their relationship has now gone even further, as he shared: “Two weeks ago, my love told me she’s pregnant.
“I didn’t believe her at first but she confirmed it by taking multiple pregnancy and blood tests.
Can I marry my cousin in the UK?
ACROSS the globe, more than 10 percent of marriages are between first or second cousins.
In the UK, there’s no legal bar to two cousins having a relationship.
That means that if end up falling for the children of your aunts and uncles, there’s nothing stopping you from eventually tying the knot.
If you’re over the age of 18, you can do this without the consent of your legal guardian or parent.
First-cousin marriages were once quite common in Europe, especially among the elite.
“I’ll admit that there have been a few other instances where we were wasted and did not use protection.
“We have already mutually decided that we will keep our baby. We both feel it’s unfair to take our thoughtless actions out on the baby.
“Obviously, we haven’t told a single person this news. The first person we will probably tell is her sister.
“Our biggest concern is our parents finding out, not only that she’s pregnant, but that I’m the father.

“I don’t think I need to ramble on anymore about how s****y a situation this is.”
Eager for advice, he asked: “Where do we go from here? Do we admit to the truth or play stupid and act like the pregnancy came from a one night stand?
“Do we ‘break up’ even though we are both in love with each other?”
Reddit users react
Reddit users were left stunned by the man’s confession and many flocked to the comments to share their thoughts and guidance.
One person said: “The truth will eventually come out. Be honest, regardless of how sticky the situation is.”
For the sake of this kid, start building good communication and parenting habits now

Another advised: “Prioritise the baby, be honest, widen your perspective. If you are bringing a baby into the world, that baby’s wellbeing is far more important than any worries about being in trouble with your own parents or their judgements of you.
“If you believe that you’re mature enough to bring that baby into existence and look after it properly as parents then you need to be mature enough not to keep secrets like teenagers.”
Whilst a third recommended couples counselling and suggested: “If you have a child together, you’re in a relationship with one another pretty much for life, even if you break up.
“For the sake of this kid, start building good communication and parenting habits now. And figure out if you’re truly compatible for the long haul.”
At the same time, someone else penned: “In most states it’s perfectly legal to marry a first cousin. Which is not to say you should marry her, but at least you don’t have to worry about incest charges as most states do not consider it incest.”
