Sian Welby has revealed when she will return to Capital Breakfast with Jordan North and Chris Stark after welcoming her first child just six weeks ago.

The presenter, 37, and her fiancé Jake Beckett welcomed daughter Ruby on June 29 and Sian has since said that becoming a mother is the ‘best thing she’s ever done’.

The radio star said she is ‘thrilled’ to be returning to her weekday morning show as she made the announcement over FaceTime while sat in her ‘pants’.

Speaking to Jordan, Chris and Kemi Rodgers, who has been covering her maternity leave, Sian revealed she will return to the show on September 2.

Tuning in from home while holding baby Ruby, Sian shared her excitement: ‘I’m so thrilled to get back into the studio with Jordan and Chris!

‘We have some huge plans for when I return, so make sure you’re tuned in.

‘I just hope I can get ready and get in on time because as much as I look like everything is together, Ruby is about to cry and I’m sat here with no trousers on’.

Kemi will now take on a brand-new show on Capital, hosting the prestigious weekday morning slot from 10am until 1pm. She will also continue to present her Saturday show from 9am – 12pm.

Sian added: ‘I’d also love to thank Kemi for doing an outstanding job while I’ve been away. See you in September!’

Kemi revealed: ‘I’m absolutely over the moon to be the new host of weekday mid-mornings on Capital! I’m also delighted because it means I’ll still get to see the Breakfast team every day as we’ll be show neighbours!

‘It’s been a blast working with Jordan and Chris these past few months, and I’m so excited to start this new chapter.’

Sian later took to her Instagram to share the ‘reality’ of the behind the scenes of the FaceTime call.

She beamed for a mirror selfie wearing a black T-shirt and no trousers while holding her little girl on her knee.

The This Morning star wrote: ‘The reality of my morning: I was so excited to be live on @capitalofficial breakfast at 8am to announce that I will be back on the show September 2nd, however to make that happen I had to start at 6am preparing for it!

‘From rocking Ruby with my foot whilst I ate my cereal, to sterilising bottles in the microwave whilst I dashed for a wee, it was a mission!

‘At one point I was doing my mascara with one hand, whilst holding a bottle in another – feeding Ruby moments before going live so she wouldn’t cry when I was on air!

‘Long story short, in the rush of finding a clean top to wear and changing another wet nappy I didn’t have time to put any trousers on and so this is me, live on FaceTime, to the nation…in my pants.’

In July, Sian sweetly said that becoming a mother is the ‘best thing she’s ever done’ as she made her first remote TV appearance after welcoming daughter Ruby.

The This Morning presenter spoke to her co-stars Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard on the daytime TV show a few days after becoming a mother where she admitted she was ‘deliriously tired’ following an emergency C-section.

She said: ‘I am tired, delirious, but is the best thing I have ever done. I am absolutely over the moon.

‘I am loving every second despite it being carnage at times. Jake was actually filming me at the time when I held her and I said: ”I can’t believe I’m meeting you it feels like a dream!”

She went on to reveal that she ended up having an emergency c-section after initially planning a water birth.

Sian explained: ‘I said I will do whatever is the safest delivery for the baby.

‘I was planning a water birth but ended up having an emergency c-section. I felt so safe I was in amazing hands. The midwives are actually incredible but obviously I’m feeling quite sore.’

On her supportive partner Jake she added: ‘He is such a natural – you do fall in love with your partner all over again. He has taken over when he needed to.

‘He has supported me when I needed to and supported me when I was emotional.’

Announcing her joyful baby news on Instagram alongside a slew of adorable snaps, Sian wrote: ‘Our little Ruby [love heart emojis]’.

Sian posted a picture of her little girl wearing a beige knitted cardigan revealing her name.
