Renowned Yoruba Actor Murphy Afolabi Passes Away
Celebrated Yoruba actor Murphy Afolabi has tragically passed away. The news was announced by Seun Oloketuyi, president of the Yoruba movies directors guild and founder of Best of Nollywood Awards.
Afolabi’s death was reportedly caused by complications after a fall in the bathroom. The actor’s passing comes less than 24 hours after the death of fellow Nollywood star, Saint Obi.
In response to the news, fellow Yoruba actor Odunlade Adekola posted a photo of Afolabi with the caption, “Jesus Christ, we lost Murphy.”
Numerous Nollywood actors have taken to social media to mourn the loss of the beloved veteran. Among them, Kemi Afolabi expressed her grief, saying, “Phew! Rest in peace, sir. Death a debt everyone owes and must pay.”
Kunle Afod shared his sorrow on Instagram, writing, “R.I.P Adedigba. We will surely miss you. We drank from your River of knowledge, we know how important you are, the sad news this morning really broke my heart.”
Other actors, including Yinka Quadri, Madam Saje, and Yomi Fabiyi, also offered their condolences on social media.
The acclaimed actor, aged 49, was born in Osun State and was a native of Osogbo town. Afolabi studied Movie Production, Mass Communications, and Theatre Arts at Ire Polytechnic in Osun.
