*How to calculate stocking density in concrete ponds/tarpaulin ponds*
What will be the stocking density of a concrete/tarpaulin pond measuring 10ft by 10ft by 4ft deep using 50-100 pieces/m².
*Solution*
10ft x 10ft= 100 square feet
10ft x 10ft = 3m x 3m=9m²
Therefore,
50 pieces/m²= 50 x 9m²= 450 fish(minimum)
100 pieces/m²= 100 x 9m²= 900 fish(maximum)
This is for the surface area volume 👆🏾
Now you calculate the depth of your pond; *concrete*/*tarpaulin*/*earthen*(you must measure the depth in meters or convert your feet (ft) Into meters to get the volume stocking density.
Formula :
Surface area x average depth = volume x pieces/m² = stocking density
I.e
9m² X (4ft)1.219meters = 11m³ multiple by 100 pieces/m2 = 1,100 fishes for a 4feet pond of 10ft by 10ft
*How to calculate stocking density in earthen ponds*
What will be the stocking density of an earthen pond measuring 100ft by 50ft by 4ft deep using 5-10 pieces/m².
*Solution*
100ft x 50ft = 5000 square feet
100ft x 50ft= 30.48m x 15.24m=465m².
Therefore,
5 pieces/m²= 5 x 465m²= 2,325 fish(minimum)
10 pieces/m²=10 x 465m²= 4,650 fish(maximum)

*Ponds:* 1000-5000m²,stocking density 5-10 pieces/m² preferably earth pond.
*Tanks:* 50-100m²,stocking density 50-100 pieces/m² preferably concrete tank/tarpaulin.
